Architectural Technologist

Opportunity:

 

We are currently seeking an Architectural Technologist with a minimum 4 - 6 years’ Canadian experience in drafting design. The ideal candidate has strong technical skills in AutoCAD and Revit, is highly motivated to succeed and is passionate about making a positive contribution in the field of architecture. You will have a working knowledge of the building code, strong problem-solving skills, great communication skills and must be fluent in written and spoken English. You will have experience with preparation drawings, consultant coordination, and project documentation, specifically in both residential and med-to-low density commercial building projects.

 

Your primary responsibilities include:

  • Produce CAD drawings from preliminary concepts including the required drafting and specifications

  • Prepare schematic plans, designs and construction drawings for architectural projects while applying knowledge of design, building materials, and assemblies

  • Analyze architectural plans, drawings and make amendments using AutoCAD

  • Prepare and produce presentation-quality drawings

  • Refer completed designs and specifications to superiors for review, alterations, and approval

  • Apply architectural concepts, building code, zoning requirements to develop architectural design documents

  • Work on multiple projects, with tight deadlines, while prioritizing, collaborating, and communicating clearly with all parties involved

 

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • At least 4-6 years working experience with both residential and med-to-low density commercial construction drawings, coordination, approvals and permit submissions and Ontario Building Code.

  • Ability to interpret and coordinate work of consultant disciplines including civil, structural, mechanical and electrical, landscape, interior design

  • Speed and accuracy in AutoCAD are required and a solid knowledge and experience in Revit is an asset

  • Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, building assemblies, materials application and interpretation of manufacturers' requirements

  • Ability to work efficiently and with accuracy both independently and as part of a collaborative team

  • Proficient in other required software such as Adobe Suite, Windows, Office 365

Required Education:

  • Architectural degree or diploma in Architectural Technology or equivalent program

Opportunity:

We are currently seeking a senior Architect with 10 years’ experience in design in a Canadian architectural office. The ideal candidate will have been involved in multi-unit projects and have some experience in the hospitality area. This position deals directly with clients, so the ability to understand and interpret their wishes is paramount. A drive to succeed, strong technical and design skills, a professional approach and positive outlook will ensure success with our firm.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

  • Design - Assist in design development and concept drawings

 

  • Project management – see the project through from initial client contact to the site plan approval, supporting the technical staff as required.  Work on multiple projects, with tight deadlines, while prioritizing, collaborating, and communicating clearly with all parties involved

  • Coordinating with clients, consultants, and the various municipalities and conservation authorities to facilitate successful permit application

  • Client Development – work with the partners in the firm to develop new projects and source new client opportunities

 

Qualifications:

 

  • At least 10 years’ working experience with multiunit residential and commercial/hospitality design, construction drawings, coordination, approvals and permit submissions and familiarity with the Ontario Building Code.

  • Membership in the OAA

  • Strong design ability, with strong free-hand sketch skills

  • Ability to interpret and coordinate work of consultant disciplines including civil, structural, mechanical and electrical, landscape, interior design

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit

  • Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, building assemblies, materials application and interpretation of manufacturers' requirements

  • Excellent communication skills (primarily in English)

  • Ability to work efficiently and with accuracy as part of both a collaborative team and individually

  • LEED accreditation is an asset

 

Required Education:

  • Degree in Architecture or equivalent masters program
