Junior Intern Architect

Opportunity:

We are currently seeking a Graduate/Intern Architect with 2-5 years’ experience in drafting design in a Canadian architectural office. The ideal candidate has strong technical and design skills, a professional approach and positive outlook.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist in design development and concept drawings

  • Produce CAD drawings from preliminary concepts including the required drafting and specifications

  • Prepare schematic plans, designs and construction drawings for architectural projects while applying knowledge of design, building materials, and assemblies

  • Analyze architectural plans, drawings and make amendments using AutoCAD

  • Prepare and produce presentation-quality drawings

  • Refer completed designs and specifications to superiors for review, alterations, and approval

  • Apply architectural concepts, building code, zoning requirements to develop architectural design documents

  • Work on multiple projects, with tight deadlines, while prioritizing, collaborating, and communicating clearly with all parties involved

  • Knowledge and ability to work with the municipal approvals process

 

Qualification:

  • At least 2-5 years working experience with residential construction drawings, coordination, approvals and permit submissions and Ontario Building Code

  • Strong design sense and open to being mentored with opportunities to grow in the firm

  • Ability to interpret and coordinate work of consultant disciplines including civil, structural, mechanical and electrical, landscape, interior design

  • Speed and accuracy in AutoCAD is a MUST

  • Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, building assemblies, materials application and interpretation of manufacturers' requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written skills

  • Ability to work efficiently and with accuracy as part of both a collaborative team and individually

  • Proficient in other required software such as Adobe Suite, Windows, Office, and Internet

  • Modeling and rendering capabilities, membership in the OAA, LEED accreditation would be considered assets

 

Required Education:

  • Degree in Architecture or equivalent masters program
