Intermediate Architectural Technologist

Opportunity:

 

We are currently seeking an Intermediate Architectural Technologist with experience in drafting design to join our team of dedicated professionals. The ideal candidate will have strong commercial experience with at least 10 years work experience, has strong technical skills in AutoCAD (with Revit as an asset), is highly motivated to succeed and is passionate about making a positive contribution in the field of architecture. You will have a high level of comfort with the Ontario building code, strong problem-solving skills, great communication skills and must be fluent in written and spoken English. You will have experience with commercial drawing and construction detailing, consultant coordination, and project documentation, specifically in med-to-low density commercial building projects. The ideal candidate will grow in this role and become a  Job Captain.

 

Your primary responsibilities include:

 

  • Produce CAD drawings from preliminary concepts including required drafting and specifications.

  • Prepare schematic plans, designs and construction drawings for architectural projects while applying knowledge of design, building materials and assemblies

  • Analyze architectural plans, drawings and make amendments using AutoCAD and Revit

  • Prepare and produce presentation quality drawings

  • Refer completed construction documents and specifications to management for review, alterations, and approval

  • Apply architectural concepts, Ontario building code, zoning requirements to develop architectural construction documents

  • Work on multiple projects, with tight deadlines, while prioritizing, collaborating, and communicating clearly with all parties involved

 

To be successful in this role, you will need:

 

  • At least 10 years working experience in med-to-low density residential / commercial construction drawing preparation, coordination, approvals and permit submission requirements.

  • Ability to interpret and coordinate work of consultant disciplines including civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, landscape, and interior design

  • Speed and accuracy in AutoCAD and Revit

  • Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, building assemblies, materials application and interpretation of manufacturers' requirements and Ontario Building Code

  • Ability to work independently from your first day, with efficiently and accuracy, while also being willing to be part of a collaborative team

  • Proficiency in other required software such as Adobe Suite/ Bluebeam, Windows, Office 365,

  • The desire to grow the job into that of Job Captain,

 

Required Education:

 

  • Diploma in Architectural Technology or equivalent program
